Self Portraits and Portraits
1. Framing is a technique where by you draw attention to one element of an image by framing it with another element of the image.
2. Use your imagination! A self-portrait can reveal a lot about you, by including props and even other people that are meaningful in your life. If you've never attempted to shoot a self-portrait, expand your creative horizons and give it a try.
3. Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factor.
4. What I like about the picture below is the lights with the fire because it really just caught my eye and there is nothing boring about this photo. I chose this because it really made me joyful looking at it because of the bright light.
5. What I like about this photo to the left is the main focus of the sparks in the background as well as a dreary overall theme but the sarks give life back tp the photo.
6. I like this photograph because it is really creative and I like the way the polaroid pictures are tired into the photo. I chose this because it was so different and I want to try something like this.
7. I like this photograph because it really caught my eye with the flowers because they are so bold. I chose this because it is so in depth regarding the flowers and the woman.
8. I like this photo because the lights again caught my eye and I like how modern it looks as well as it being very clean and simple. I chose this because I was drawn to potentially try to recreate this photo using the correct setting.
9. I like this photo because it agin is simple and uses the firework in a creative way to bring all of the attention to it without ruining the subject because I can still see her. I chose this because I really love the sparkler giving extra excitement to the photo.
My overall plan for my portrait assignment is shooting photos of my friends at school doing different creative things. I will shoot at school because that is where the class is. If I do get a chance I will also try to go outside of school and take cool photos of my self outside using cool effects. The effects I will try to use is a water splash right in front of me with cool lighting. I will achieve this by having another person splash water from a water bottle in front of me and this will be at school. Another idea I have is using sparklers, like the photo above, at home around sundown to create a lot of color and light and I can use the composition rule of rule of thirds to create this. The final idea I have is using something with a volleyball. I could set to myself or pass to myself up close to create depth.
