Ethics in Fashion Photography
Video 1: The few things they changed in photoshop is they lowered the models eyebrows to make her eyes look bigger and bolder, they made her lips bigger, and made her neck longer. They also darkened her hair with dark hues.
Video 2: In this video the changes made to the models body was, they made her eyes a lot bigger, her legs longer as well as her feet, her waist more slim, and her neck longer. They also made her skin more tan in the beginning and in photoshop they made her skin lighter and looked like it had more glow.
Video 3: The changes that were made was that they started out by making her less skinny and without abs then made her have an orange hue with spots acting like cheese. They then made her swimsuit into pepperoni and erased her face completely. They then made her wider as the shape of a pizza and therefore made her into a slice of pizza.
Questions:
4. I think it is not ethnically acceptable to change the appearance of a person just because they aren't cut out to have the looks. If they are going to do a lot of change to the women's body and want a "skinny" and "pretty" doll like woman than cast her and not do any changes to the woman that doesn't "have the looks,"
5. There are circumstances which it is ethically wrong. For example, if someone on photoshop changes the color of a person, that is taking it way too far.
6. Some types of changes that are ok are using photoshop to just lighten up the image and the person's skin, what is not ok is changing the women's body shape and color.
7. The differences between photojournalism and fashion photography are with fashion you are taking photos specifically of people to advertise their brand and then use photoshop to change how the person looks. With photojournalism you take photos of different things but use photoshop for levels and simply cropping and brightening the photo, not changing the looks of people.
8. The relationship of these types of photography have to reality is with fashion photography you take pictures of models who model the clothing brand, makeup, or hair product. which makes people want to spend money on those products because they think they will look how the models look but in reality it's photoshop. With photojournalism you take photos to possibly advertise things without people in the pictures than write about it later.
9. I think you are showing us these photos because it is good to know what to photoshop and what is off limits to photoshop and to bring awareness to how wrong it is to change the models.
10. None of these videos are about guys because people just care about how women look and if they are pretty enough or lady like. This is very wrong and almost segregated between women and men.
