Portfolios and Sports Portfolios.

Video 1:
a. The photographer is Alyssa Schukar.
b. The general focus of portfolio is stories.
c. Three problems are first some of the photos aren't clear, tone tone is a downer, and finally all of the pictures were from a certain distance.
d. The judges liked some certain photos where the scene was clear or joyful. For example, the man sweeping in one of the Caribbean Islands and the baseball scene.
e. My overall impression of the photographer is that she is simple with her photographs. I didn't like how plain some of the photos were and how they were dark, not knowing what is fully happening in the photo.

Video 2:
a. The photographer is Travis Haughton.
b. The general portfolio is some is a story and some is sports or photoj.
c. Three problems that the judges see are signs, captions to know what is happening in the photo, and seeing the faces of the subjects not just one face.
d. Two things the judges liked are most of the sports photographs because they show genuine emotion and pride, and the levels and qualities that the photographer uses in of some of the photos.
e. My impression of the photographer is that he is trying hard to capture the perfect photo and with that he is getting not good angles or messed up frames. I liked all of the sports photographs because they are all balanced well throughout the portfolio.

Video 3:
a. The photographer is Nick Adams.
b. The general portfolio is based on stories of different subjects.
c. Three problems the judges point out are focus, basic photo stories like children with disabilities or children in general, and fires. The final problem the judges notice is having frames too tight that are causing people's head to be cut out.
d. Two things the judges liked are the silhouettes in the portfolio, and some of the sharpness of the composition.
e. My impression of the photographer is that he is trying to create basic photos and use simple techniques. I liked most of the silhouettes and sports photography because they were portrayed clean and not too busy where you could get distracted. There was also a lot of diversity within the portfolio, not all were under the same theme.

Video 4:
a. The photographer of this portfolio is Sam Adams.
b. The general focus of this portfolio is to tell stories of the different subjects in the photos as well as including a photo story.
c. Some issues the judges noticed in the portfolio were mergers within frames, lighting with the subjects, and distractions in the backgrounds.
d. Two things the judges liked were, the action displayed in the photos (photos that had certain action not just having the subjects stand there), and simplicity within the photo.
e. My impression of the photographer is that he likes to take a lot of photo stories and biking photography. I didn't like how he included a separate story for biking and bmx riding because that could be whole other portfolio and it distracts viewers from the rest of the photos.

Dustin Snipes Portfolio:

a. The strengths the judges noticed are everyone is doing something whether it is showing emotion, playing a sport, or reacting. Another strength is the composition the photographer used to make the photo seem in depth and clean.
b. I think Dustin's strengths are being able to point out that there is no distractions and having bright, creative photos that most of the other portfolios didn't have.

Contest Recap Video:
a. The process the judges went through are process of elimination, deciding whether or not there are strong pictures and if it is too busy and if there blanks in each photo. Also the judges went through deciding which ones are on the same theme and if they show the same characteristics and have diversity. The judges also went through and decided which photographers are good editors and if they edited their photos correctly and efficiently.

Individual Images:
1. I agree with the judges first image in the first video with the red car was not dynamic because there was nothing special about it and had good leading lines and framing within the photograph. I personally liked the balance of the photo and how different it is from other photos.
2. I disagree with the judges with the girl in the swimming pool. I disagree because the judges think that it has no purpose. I think the judges are wrong because it symbolizes something that the judges and us might not know. I do like ho the photo tells a story even if there is no caption.
