DSLR Virtual Camera

1. Aperture settings: f2.8--- f22 2. Shutter Speed settings: 1 sec--- 1/4000 sec 3. ISO settings: 1---25600

ISO

Image
Photo taken at an ISO of 200 Photo taken at an ISO of 3200 1. The advantages of shooting at a high ISO at a night football game is during the night is it very dark and having an high ISO will raise the exposure to make the photo brighter and more visible. 2. The suggestions the author made was to use a low ISO at all times because it is less grainy and the photo is more clear. They also said even in dark environments to try to use a low ISO as much as possible. 3. The author suggests to use a high ISO when you are fighting against the motion blur in a photo. Another suggestion they suggest is when the environment is dark to always use a high ISO unless you need to use a low ISO.

Shutter Speed

Image
High Shutter Speed Slow Shutter Speed 1. Beginning when sun is still up: a) Medium shutter speed b) Medium shutter speed c) Fast shutter speed d) Fast shutter speed e) Fast shutter speed f) Fast shutter speed End when there is no sun: a) Slow shutter speed b) Slow shutter speed c) Medium shutter speed d) Slow shutter speed e) Slow shutter speed d) Medium shutter speed 2. The settings using shutter speed are, first, you can use "Shutter Priority" mode. This mode allows you to choose the shutter speed, and sets the aperture automatically which we want to stay away from when we are shooting manually.  The second is "Manual" and that setting you can choose to set both the shutter speed and aperture automatically. The final camera setting is "Aperture Priority" and this mode allows you to set the camera in auto mode with no troubles.

Aperture

Image
Aperture of f2.8 Aperture of f16 1. We should closely relate the eyes to aperture. I said this because your pupils act like the lens of a camera when you are shooting because your peripheral vision and your vision in general act like a good indicator for what aperture is like. 2. The smaller the aperture, less light. The higher the aperture, more light or exposure. 3. The aperture effects the depth of field by how much focus is on the subject and how much is effects the depth of the image. For example, taking a photo with small aperture results in more focus and a little amount of blur in the background. It also effects the foreground and background focus.

Great Black and White Photographers part 3

Image
Photo 1 Photo 2 1) What first caught my eye when I saw these photos is how different they are and how he edited them to make them look imaginary. Something particular I saw that made me chose these photos is the different balances and the cool different features he uses. 2) Using my five senses, I see different dynamics between both photos and I see specifically happiness and serenity. I smell fresh air when I look at these photos because I think of the outdoors and how calm I am outside. When I am outside I feel myself escape and when I smell the fresh air I feel my whole body calm down.  I hear birds chirping and the wind blowing because they are outside.  I said birds chirping because one photo is based in the mountains and there are trees and when I am in the forest or mountains all I hear are the singing birds. I taste the freshness and cool water in my mouth. When I think of the outdoors I feel the need to drink cool water to stay hydrated and along with the water...

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

Image
A. Some of the main points of the pictures are the photographers are making the people look "prettier" and "more attractive". Some photographers are also adding people to the photos to make the photo show more diversity and in one photo they made the man look "darker" and "menacing". B.  The photoshop policies made the big name newspaper brands have a philosophy because they think sometimes the camera may not accommodate the correct settings so they rely on their memory to enhance the photograph. They do however believe that they have specific policies regarding the alternation of photos. They do not alternate body shapes or skin tone which is going over the line regarding the policies. C. Some acceptable things I think you can do the photo is maybe change the lighting, tone, or background color because the camera did not capture the colorwell so you can alternate those type of things. What I believe you shouldn't do is change the persons...

Critiquing another blog

https://campbellsphotoj.blogspot.com/ 1. Two positive things about the photos are they are very simple and not very busy. They also are very colorful and clean and show clearly what the subject is. 2. One thing they can improve on in their photos is some photos are busy and there are distractions in some of them.

Academic Shoot reflection and critique

1. The one main big challenge I faced going out to shoot the rules as well as academics was trying to find not too busy backgrounds, or mergers. I also tried to conquer what rules I showed us and sometimes I went blank trying to figure out what rule to shoot without doing it wring or messing it up. 2. The technical aspects of photography I thought about the most was the focus and how could I make this photo not too busy or distracting. One example of this the Rule of Thirds photo, I took this photo while laying on the ground to get the perfect angle and I was hoping the photos didn't turn out blurry the whole time. 3. I would do differently is going back and reviewing the rules once again so I had it fresh on my mind before I went out to shoot because I blanked out a lot while shooting. I was trying hard to think about what I could do without it being busy, distracting, or messy. 4. What things I would do the same is how I held the camera and the steadiness of how I took the ...

Academic Shoot

Image
This is the rule of Rule of Thirds, and I thought I captured it very well. The subject of the photo is the two girls who are wearing bright red and that immediately makes me look straight at those girls because of how much they stand out. It is very clear what the subject is because they are up close to they camera and they are wearing identical colors. I could done differently to see the subject more clear is to not have gotten that chair on the side of the photo because it is a distraction.  This photo shows the rule of Avoiding Mergers and I think I successfully captured the merger that you are supposed to avoid. The subject is supposed to be the three boys in the center but the top of the sink shows a clear distraction and that could very well be the subject instead. I think that people want to think the subject is the boys, but with the merger they might think it's that not the boys. I could have made the boys more clear without teh merger, but this photo is on purpose...

2012 Winners

Image
1. I chose this photo because the camera captures the paint splatters perfectly and it looks very professional and it's very creative. 2. The rules of photography are balance because it shows two sides of the photograph.  1. I chose this photo because it has very clear emotion because the team won their game and they are very energetic. 2. The rules shown in this photo is Rule of Thirds. 3. I can easily take photos in the cafeteria, gym, the classroom, and maybe a open science lab because it would create a very good environment for academic shoot. 4. I would like to take photos in a science classroom because I can think of a lot of ways I can create different and creative photos using a science room. 5. AS a photographer I will try very hard to focus on the camera basics and the photo rules that we learned.

Great Black and White Photographers PART 2

Jerry N. Uelsman is an American photographer and he was born on June 11, 1934. He was apart of the early exponent of photographers in the 20th century in the US. His work involves darkroom effects foreshadowed with the use of Adobe Photoshop to make imaginative photos. He went to Rochester Institute of Technology (1957) and  Indiana University Bloomington to pursue his career.  He also began teaching photography at the University of Florida in 1960. He creates surreal, spiritual, and provoking images using the mastery of photomontage. The photographs are analyzed and explored through the process of darkroom techniques. Uelsmann has received a variety of awards including, the Guggenheim Fellowship award in 1967 and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship award in 1972. Filling the Frame

Image
This photo fills the frame by these enthusiastic students cheering at a school sporting event and having a lot of energy. I chose this because the students have paint all over them and a lot of school pride but I thought it was interesting because of the paint. The photo has a lot of good contrast between the students cheering and the color. There was a lot of good photos representing most interesting but this one immediately caught my eye because of the jurassic energy.

Action and Emotion

Image
In this photo there is clear emotion and  expression. Looking at this photo makes me sad and depressed but I am not sure what is actually causing this elderly man to cry. The emotion in this picture could be happy tears, or sad, depressed tears that make the viewer sad looking at it as it did to me. The caption however does say a touched heart so it very well could be  that the man is crying tears of joy.

Camera History and Basic Functions

The Camera: 1. The camera obscura is known as the first ever camera and the effect was achieved by a hole in the center of the camera and it acted as the lens and it focuses and projects light onto the wall of a dark chamber. 2. The invention was lenses and optics, which Issac Newton and Christian Huygens helped achieve. 3. The final parts Joseph Nicephore added was the film to the camera. 4. Modern cameras have in common with Nicephore's is modern day cameras still use the basic functions as Nicephore's model, including the light that passes through the lens, into the camera and then exposes the film. 5. Digital cameras use an electronic sensor called a CCD. Camera Modes: 6. The difference between Auto mode and program mode is, auto mode controls flash and exposure, and program mode controls automatic-assist so you can just point and shoot. 7. Portrait mode is used for attempting to blur out the background. 8. Sports mode is used for freezing motion. 9. The photogra...

The Story

Image
This shows a story by at homecoming, this girl was voted homecoming queen and her family is congratulating her and she, shown, is very happy and joyful. This is an amazing photo because it tells people that everyone is equal and just because she is special needs she doesn't deserve hate, cruelty, or unkindness. I think the story is that students wanted this girl to feel extra special, as she deserves, so everyone voted her homecoming queen and she won. This photo has many amazing traits, my favorite is her facial expression clearly showing her excitement about the moment.

Post Shoot Reflection

1. The challenges I faced while going out to shoot was I was trying to think of things to shoot and it was difficult to think of one thing and comparing it to one of the rules we had to focus on. Another challenge was looking around and trying to find something to actually shoot with Squares, Happy, Bowie, and Metal. 2. One thing I found difficult with the technical aspect was the framing part and the balanced portion of it. Framing was difficult for me because I didn't know what to shoot for framing without the background being to busy or chaotic. One thing I did well was I actually got a photo with framing an dit was balanced and wasn't too busy. 3. I found myself changing a lot before I published because I was unsure and of what photos I should use for each rule and the topics. I thought of what kind of photos I can take then I applied the thought to my shoot and It did help but I still wasn't sure if it was correct or I am doing the right ones.  4. I ended up achi...
